About the Publisher

Dan Cafaro is the founder and publisher of Atticus Books, a small, independent publishing house located in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C. He also is the founder and publisher of Atticus Review, a weekly online journal, where he writes about modern man for the column, “From the Attic.”

Dan has worked in various forms of print and electronic media for 20-plus years, with an emphasis on manuscript acquisitions, project development and program management. He has commissioned the work of more than 100 book authors in various genres, and has cultivated many strong relationships with industry professionals including booksellers, editors, compositors and graphic designers.

A poet, self-taught journalist and former sportswriter from Hasbrouck Heights, N.J., Dan owned and operated Chapters Revisited, a quaint brick-and-mortar bookshop in Doylestown, Pa., from 1995 to 1999. As an entrepreneur in the evergreen days of dot.com startups, he adopted early to selling books online and, in the process, learned the many sides and facets of the book business.

Despite being an old soul, he continues each day to learn new trade tricks, and currently lives on Peyton Place (just kidding, neighbors) with his amazing wife, precocious daughter and hedonistic Brittany Spaniel and Beagle-Foxhound mix in the outer D.C. suburbs and backwoods of Maryland.

Dan can be reached at danc@atticusbooks.net.
