BOOK AUTHORS
Alex Kudera has survived a decade of adjunct-teaching overloads but in some circles is better known for his mysterious injuries. He has bussed dishes and tutored English in two countries and fondly recalls writing in museums, parks, and zoos on several continents. A lifelong Philadelphian until fall 2007, Alex currently teaches literature and writing at Clemson University in South Carolina. Fight for Your Long Day is his first published novel, but he has promised several more.
Joseph Zeppetello is the author of the forthcoming title, Daring to Eat a Peach, a novel to be published by Atticus Books in November of 2010. He is the Director of Writing at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and lives in the Catskill Mountains.
Randall DeVallance is the author of the short novel, Dive (2004), and the short-story collection, Sketches of Invalids (2007). His stories have appeared in several anthologies and more than 30 print and online publications including McSweeney’s, Pindeldyboz, Eyeshot, Vestal Review, and Word Riot. His work, The Absent Traveler: A Novella and Other Short Stories, an Atticus Books Trade Paperback Original, is due to be released at the end of 2010. He lives in New York City.
Tommy Zurhellen, whose novel Nazareth, North Dakota is scheduled for a spring 2011 release, has been teaching creative writing at Marist College since 2004, and serves as director of the Marist Summer Writing Institute and the Writer-in-Residence program. He received his Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from the University of Alabama in 2002. His short works have been published in Quarterly West, Carolina Quarterly, Passages North, South Dakota Review,The MacGuffin, Crab Creek Review, Apalachee Review, River Oak Review, Red Mountain Review, Iconoclast, Coal City Review, and elsewhere.
Steve Himmer teaches at Emerson College in Boston, where he earned his Master of Fine Arts in creative writing and is on the faculty of the First Year Writing Program. His stories have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies including Hobart, The Los Angeles Review, Night Train, Pindeldyboz, PANK, Emprise Review, and Everyday Genius. He also is a frequent blogger on writing and teaching, and edits Necessary Fiction, a webjournal from So New Publishing, a press based in Eugene, Oregon. His novel The Bee-Loud Glade is due for release in the spring of 2011.
BOOK DESIGNERS
The striking artistry of graphic designer Jamie Keenan has appeared on the book covers of many major publishing houses, including Doubleday, Alfred A. Knopf, Penguin, and W.W. Norton & Company, to name a few.
The inspiring UK designer has won various awards and has been lauded by his contemporaries as “insightful, exegetical, interesting technically, and über-witty.”
Anton Khodakovsky lives in Antalya, Turkey with his wife and little daughter. He has more than 15 years of experience in graphic design and has been designing book covers for over 6 years. He has designed more than a thousand titles, including Randall DeVallance’s “The Absent Traveler”. Through a career of web design and creative design/illustration for advertising and press, he has finally found his favorite field, book design.

Marika Flatt launched PR by the Book, LLC in 2002, combining her love of the media and public relations. She has garnered experience as the host of two cable television shows in San Antonio, has worked as reporter and producer for Texas A&M University’s newspaper and TV station and has worked with the NBC affiliate in Dallas,.Marika spent seven years leading the publicists of an Austin-based book publicity firm, where she was the director of the publisher services division. She was awarded a Gold Bulldog Award for a publicity campaign, which resulted in exposure in over 700 media outlets, as well as an Austin Public Relations Society of America Outstanding Mentor Award, an Anne D. Robinson Creative Initiative Award, and is a three-time nominee for the “Profiles in Power” Award. In 2003-2004, Marika served as the president of the Austin chapter of the Association for Women in Communications. In 2009, she served as the Advanced Publicity track leader for IBPA’s Publishing University. Marika is a regular speaker at conferences around the country, educating audiences on topics related to publicity and overall promotion tactics.
Tolly Moseley began her publicity career at a literary publicity firm, where she booked major media outlets, including: CNN “American Morning,” CBS’ “Dr. Phil,” FOX’s “Fox and Friends,” New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, NPR, Redbook, Real Simple, and more. As a publicist, she worked with books from major publishers, such as: TOR/Forge, St. Martin’s Press, Penguin, G.P. Putnam’s Sons, The Overlook Press, Thomas Nelson, Guideposts Books, and Zondervan. When she is not publicizing, Tolly is a contributor to several print and online media outlets, including Discovery Channel’s two eco-news sites, TreeHugger.com and PlanetGreen.com, as well as HeartlessDoll.com, the feminist/pop culture site ofVillage Voice. Since 2007, Tolly has also hosted an award-winning blog in Austin, Texas: Austin Eavesdropper. In 2010, Tolly and her blog won a Texas Social Media Award from the Austin American-Statesman.Tolly received her B.A. in English from Southwestern University, where she graduated Cum Laude. She earned her M.A. in Literature from University of California, Davis, in 2007, specializing in Victorian Literature.

Michael Dylan Welch is a contributing editor to both Spring: The Journal of the E. E. Cummings Society and Juxtapositions: The Journal of Haiku Poetics and Culture, and is a founding associate of The Haiku Foundation. He is also editor and publisher of Press Here, which has published many award-winning haiku and tanka books since 1989. His most recent books include Noh (Tokyo: PIE Books, 2010), For a Moment (Pointe Claire, Quebec: King’s Road Press, 2009) and 100 Poets: Passions of the Imperial Court (Tokyo: PIE Books, 2008). Michael holds an MA in English, was born in Watford, England, and grew up in England, Ghana, Australia, and Canada. He travels frequently to Japan, and now lives with his wife and two children in Sammamish, Washington.
Robert A. Juran is a retired newspaper editor who writes reference books and other nonfiction books of various kinds. He has on many occasions been a state and national award winner for editorial writing and in other categories. He is a former winner of the national first prize in the Sigma Delta Chi Foundation Writing Awards. In past years he edited and published, on separate occasions, three magazines—a national-level journalism review, a magazine for dealers in used and rare books, and a movie guide—the first two of which he founded himself. He is the author of a total of 13 books, the subject matter of which ranges from forgotten film classics to what’s wrong with American newspapers. With his wife, Nancy and their two cats, the author lives in Oregon City, Oregon.
