How to Publish with Us

We welcome unsolicited manuscript submissions and book proposals for print publication. In addition, we encourage writers to submit short stories, poems, and literary essays for potential publication on our website. We prefer this latter approach as a starting point because it’s beneficial for us to get acquainted with your shorter work. For example, on our first date, we wouldn’t mind experiencing a chapter excerpt or a caffeine-induced poem or short story. Then, if we both like what we see, we can advance to the next stage, with the honorable intention of pursuing a more serious relationship, such as the lifelong commitment of the beloved and betrothed, published novel.

To get the conversation started and find out more about the prospects of publishing a book or some of your shorter works with Atticus Books, please e-mail a query, along with writing samples, to danc@atticusbooks.net.

By the way, we do everything we can to make our publication process as painless as possible, so try not to fear the blasted formality of it as you do, say, the plague or a dentist visit. We’re quite approachable, really. If you don’t believe us, just ask our authors. But whatever you do, don’t ask our colleagues or vendors. After all, we have a stern-faced reputation to uphold.

  1. Mr. Cafaro:
I attempted to contact you via your email address but the message was undeliverable. It was in regards to the upcoming book by Alex Kundera and an inquiry about submission guidelines for fiction.

      JD,

Please send any communications pertaining to the publishing house directly to danc@atticusbooks.net.

I appreciate your interest in Alex’s book – and the fact you’ve befriended our very own Cyrus Duffleman on Facebook. I look forward to continued exchanges.

      Cheers,
      DC
